This winter is the first time I’ve grown bulbs en masse. I tried growing a dahlia this summer, but the bulb never took. I decided not to let my experience with the dahlia get me down and picked three kinds of flowers to grow. They’re pictured here from front left to back left: anemones, ranunculus, grape hyacinths (muscari), and (another) dahlia. So far, I have 4 grape hyacinths and 2 ranunculus bulbs that are starting to come up in the container. I’m super excited! My balcony is screened in and the weather hasn’t been very cold, so I haven’t had to cover the contained with a blanket or mulch. I’m debating whether or not to do this as the bulbs have been doing all right so far.
